What is Sainik School admission counselling?
Sainik School admission counselling is the process through which eligible candidates can seek admission to Sainik Schools across the country. The process includes registration, selection of schools, allocation of seats based on merit, physical verification, and admission formalities. The counselling is conducted through an automated system for transparency and fairness. Candidates can apply for admission by registering on the official website of Sainik School Society and following the instructions provided. The admission process is open to both new candidates and existing students of Sainik Schools who wish to continue their education in the Sainik School vertical.
The Ministry of Defence has declared that the Sainik School Society (SSS) will introduce an automated system for e-counselling for the Sainik School Admission Counselling 2023. This decision was made to ensure transparency during the admission process.
The SSS will conduct e-counselling for students who wish to gain admission to 100 new Sainik Schools. The new AISSEE e-counselling system will first be implemented in the newly established schools. Those who are interested may visit the official website, sainikschool.ncog.gov.in, to register and authenticate all details and procedures.
As per officials, this system will be applicable to the new schools that are being established in accordance with the Government’s vision of providing educational opportunities for students nationwide while also following the Sainik School curriculum in line with the National Education Policy.
Sainik School Admission Counselling
The admission process for 10 newly approved Sainik Schools has commenced. The Sainik Schools Society (SSS) has released the first provisional list of 485 shortlisted candidates for these newly approved schools. The e-counselling automated system will fill the candidature, and at least 40% of the seats in these newly approved Sainik Schools will be allocated to candidates who have already qualified in AISSEE 2023.

On May 21, the Sainik Schools Society declared the results of the e-counselling process on the portal https://sainikschool.ncog.gov.in/ecounselling. With this, the society has taken one more step towards the Government’s objective of establishing 100 new Sainik Schools across the country through partnership mode.
According to the web portal, “The portal for admission into new Sainik Schools, with whom the society has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), was activated from May 8 to May 14, 2022. During this period, 12,000 AISSEE qualified candidates registered for the e-counselling process.”
Results and further admission instructions are available on the official website for candidates to review. The Defence Ministry mentioned that candidates had the option of selecting up to ten schools for allocation. After that, based on the rank and priority of students, an automated allocation process was carried out for the schools. Subsequently, the provisionally shortlisted candidate had to accept the allotment and proceed with the admission formalities or indicate the option for the second round of counselling or their unwillingness for further consideration.
Candidates who have accepted or locked their choices will be informed of the dates for physical verification at the respective school level by the newly approved Sainik Schools. Any unfilled seats after the round 1 completion date will be filled through round 2 of counselling, for which the portal will announce the dates.
Additionally, up to 60% of students will be admitted from eligible students who are currently studying in the newly approved Sainik schools. A separate qualifying admission test, the New Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (NSSEE 22), will be conducted shortly by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for such students. The admission test will be on a similar pattern to AISSEE.
The registration process for eligible students already studying in newly approved Sainik Schools and seeking admission in the Sainik School vertical of their respective schools will begin shortly, and the date of the admission test will be announced through the NTA portal. This information is available on the AISSEE Web Portal, https://sainikschool.ncog.gov.in/ecounselling.
Once the registration process is underway, the Sainik Schools Society will inform students about applying for e-counselling and release deadlines through various channels. Those who score above the qualifying marks will receive an individual link through their registered phone number or email address. Meanwhile, new Sainik Schools will be given appropriate access rights to provide category and gender-wise information, as well as the number of vacancies.
Students can choose up to ten schools for allocation. Based on their rank and school preferences, they will be allocated a school through the automated system. The final results will be declared on the e-counselling portal. Students can accept the allocated school or indicate their alternative choices for the second round of counselling. Candidates who wish to withdraw from the admission process should inform the authorities at this point.
